African cities face numerous difficulties that seriously complicate the quality of their essential infrastructure:
- Strong population growth
- Concentration of it in cities
- Climate disruption and increased frequency of extreme phenomena
- Low electrification rate, especially in rural areas
- Aging of installed equipment, often broken down, and very energy consuming
- Technological obsolescence
- Lack of regular maintenance
- Lack of own financial resources
- Difficulties in deciding between the investments to be made, all of which are urgent and priority
